The "Tribute to Ray Charles", part of the SF Jazz Fall Season series, packed Amnesia so tight the overflow had people literally dancing in the street. Jazz Mafia don Adam Theis (on bass & trombone) said "...it was a beautiful night... I felt we got to experience something totally different than almost all the hundreds of shows that (Joe and I) have performed together thru the past few years. Ray's music is so rootsy and relaxed - even the uptempo songs feel like they are just strolling along like a Cadillac." Theis was so inspired by the experience that he went on to express his desire to move away from "our normal backbeat driven funk/hip-hop/rock thing" and towards music that taps into a broad range of human emotions.
